We had been trying to get tUnE-yArDs in our store for months before things finally fell into place in June, and we couldn't have been happier with their performance. Bird-Brains is an excellent album, but live is where the songs really come to life - don't just take our word for it, check out "Sunlight" above (and peep our YouTube page for the rest of the set, including a few brand new tunes).
Check out this video of Broken Social Scene playing their song "All To All" off of their new album Forgiveness Rock Record. After an eager audience member requested it to be the last song of their all acoustic set, BSS happily learned it on the spot, and needless to say, it left us pretty dazzled.
When Daniel, Fred & Julie asked if they could play our store on an off-night during their recent tour, we were more than happy to oblige. Their self-titled debut has been flying off the shelves since it came out last December, and their fans came out in droves for this intimate performance. Here's their song "Runner," one of two original songs they wrote for the album.
Portland, Oregon's White Hinterland made a special visit to our store as part of their never-ending world tour. Here's their song "Icarus" off of their new album Kairos.
Zeus' debut album Say Us very quickly became our most listened to album 'round here when it dropped in late February. Of course, whenever a band really wins us over we try our hardest to get them to play our store. Luckily for us, Zeus happen to really love our store too, so they were happy to set up between our shelves and play "all the hits." Basia Bulat comes by Soundscapes quite often, but on February 16th, she wasn't here shopping for music. Instead she came armed with a twangy old acoustic guitar, her trusty autoharp, and a third instrument that I couldn't even identify. Enjoy "Gold Rush" from her newest album, Heart of my Own.
This past Valentine's Day was a good one for us here at Soundscapes, because Calgary's Woodpigeon dropped by to play a few selections from their vast catalogue. Here's the song "Morningside" from their latest album Die Stadt Muzikanten.
The last in-store of 2009 was also one of our best. Evening Hymns made a special appearance hot on the heels of their critically acclaimed new album Spirit Guides and pretty much blew us all away. We loved their set so much that we posted the whole thing on YouTube!!!
It's been a joy to watch The Rural Alberta Advantage's popularity rise over the last year, and we couldn't have been happier to have them come play an intimate set last November to a packed store.
The Henrys rarely perform, so it was a real treat to have them come play for us, and I'm sure their fans appreciated it too! See if you can figure out what this one's called...
Sackville, NB's Shotgun Jimmie made a special visit to Soundscapes back in October right in the middle of his one millionth cross-Canada tour. Enjoy his song 'Used Parts' off of his latest LP Still Jimmie.
Liam Corcoran and Alec O'Hanley of Two Hours Traffic stopped by the shop for a stripped-down in-store performance. Here's "Happiness Burns," from their new album Territory.

Ohbijou are everywhere this month. Beyond gracing the cover of Exclaim! and helping organize the upcoming Friends in Bellwoods 2 compilation (which also includes a brand new song by them), Ohbijou found time to play a lovely set to an absolutely packed store. A few weeks back, Dave Bidini brought his new group to Soundscapes to kick off the "Hoser March," which saw him parading to various spots around Toronto before ending up at the Horseshoe at night, all in celebration of their debut album The Land Is Wild. Please enjoy this video which literally has the band playing themselves out onto the street.
