If anything, it's the other way around for leader Spencer Krug. Random Spirit Lover is a suite of art-rock mini-epics that cascade through ever-evolving movements and broken carnival crescendos. Krug's sense of urgent, hiccupping drama is a potent foil to Dan Boeckner's everyman in Wolf Parade, but left to his own devices, a more complete range of talents are revealed. As he sings himself, "It's right because chaos is yours/ and chaos is mine."
